2024 Queensland Clubs Benchmarking Report

Share Post:

In early 2024, we released a summary of the latest benchmarking data. This snapshot provided Clubs with a preliminary tool to assess their financial performance against industry standards.

Since the previous benchmarking report (prepared in 2021), Clubs have grappled with unprecedented challenges such as pandemic recovery, labour shortages and increased economic pressures. Despite these challenges, the Queensland Clubs industry has demonstrated resilience, as shown by the growth in registered Clubs throughout the state, and an approximate increase in community contributions of $600 million.

Key findings from the report indicate a shift in operational focus. Clubs are increasingly prioritising gaming revenue, with a recommended annual gaming refresh rate of 20%. Whilst food and beverage costs have risen across the board, wages in gaming have decreased; thus, contributing to slightly reduced contributions from food and beverage departments.
Encouragingly, EBITDARD has improved across different Club sizes.

Clubs have placed a primary focus on reducing overheads, demonstrated by an average reduction from 30% to 27% of revenue. Combined with a strategic focus on gaming, this has enabled many Clubs to offset challenges in other areas.

The 2024 Benchmarking Report offers a comprehensive analysis of industry trends, insights and provides valuable data for Clubs to assess their performance.
