With the end of financial year fast approaching, make sure all your licences are up to date including your liquor licence QLD. Annual liquor licence fees are due for payment by 31 July 2018.
As you may know, a liquor licence states where and when you can serve alcohol and different licences are available to suit different businesses or community organisations.
If you are an existing liquor licensee, permits and licence variations are available if you want to change or extend the conditions of your licence. Permits are also available for non-proprietary organisations that want to serve alcohol temporarily or at a one-off event.
Non-compliant licensees could potentially face an Infringement Notice of $2,523 from the OLGR (increases from 1 July 2018). Larger fines and even prosecution action in court can be taken from the OLGR may they consider the act of unlicensed trading to be deliberate. Remember that the OLGR has taken punitive action against a number of traders who’ve failed to renew their liquor licence within the required timeframe. In 2017, more than $275,000 in fines were issued to venues selling liquor with a suspended or cancelled licence.
