What is it?
The Workplace Gender Equality Agency is an Australian Government statutory agency created by the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. The Agency is charged with promoting and improving gender equality in Australian workplace by working collaboratively with employers to provide advice, practical tools and education to help them improve their gender performance.
Who does it affect?
Employers in the non-public sector with 100 or more employees (including casual and part time employees hired within a 6-month timeframe) are required to submit a report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency between 1 April and 31 May on an annual basis.
Minimum standards (gender equality indicators) apply to specific relevant employers covered under the Act that have 500 or more employees.
How do I register?
If your business has never had to lodge a report previously, you will need register with the Agency in writing at wgea@wgea.gov.au.
How to report?
The Agency will contact you to confirm your business’s reporting requirements with relevant employers able to use a standard AUSkey to report securely on line.
Relevant employers can similarly access their confidential customised benchmark reports structured around six Gender Equality Indicators using their Auskey.
