Meet Burleigh Leagues Club’s New Marketing Manager

Share Post:

Burleigh Leagues Club is proud to introduce Sandy Ackerman as their new Marketing Manager. A seasoned professional with an extensive background in the Queensland Club industry, Sandy brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted connection to the Burleigh community, making her an invaluable addition to the team.

Joining the Burleigh Bears team in February, Sandy has hit the ground running, immersing herself in key community projects such as the Bears 100 Year/Hot Tomato live broadcast event and the Club’s 2024 International Women’s Day celebration.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Sandy has honed her marketing skills at prestigious venues including the Seagulls Club, Surfers Paradise Golf Club, and most recently, North Burleigh SLSSA. Her diverse experience, coupled with her innate understanding of the Club industry, positions her as a strategic leader in the Club’s marketing endeavours.

What sets Sandy apart is her deep-rooted connection to Burleigh. Hailing from a family with a long history in the area, Sandy’s ties to the community run deep. Her family’s legacy, from owning land where Burleigh Ridge now stands, having roads named after them and growing tasty Burleigh bananas, underscores her commitment to preserving and honouring Burleigh’s rich heritage. No doubt a key consideration by the Club’s General Manager, Dan Brunt, when meeting Sandy during the recruitment process and understanding her passion for her community…we’re not sure if Burleigh Bananas Leagues Club has the same ring to as Burleigh Bears Leagues Club though?

Reflecting on her journey, Sandy shares, “Clubs are where my heart truly belongs. I love the sense of community, creativity, and excitement within a Club.”

In her short time with the Burleigh Bears team, Sandy has already made significant contributions, spearheading initiatives such as the Club’s upcoming Car or Cash promotion…which is rumoured to feature a very high tech and progressive vehicle brand (not mentioning any names yet). Further, Sandy is very passionate about driving awareness and enhancing the Club’s array of dining offerings that cater to diverse tastes.

“I am thrilled to be part of a progressive management team that prioritises community support and the longevity of the Burleigh Bears. Working with a Club that provides a central hub for everyone in the community and prioritises the importance of sports within our community is a truly special experience!”

With her expertise and enthusiasm, we are confident that Sandy will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of Burleigh Bears Leagues Club. The DWS team can’t wait to stop in to the Club soon to check out the awesome things the Burleigh team are getting up to…and to try and win that car, right?!
