DWS Hospitality Specialists has a long-standing partnership with RSL Victoria and John Dickson was called into action again recently to provide Corporate Governance sessions.

Hosted between venues such as Darebin RSL, Sale RSL and RSL Victoria’s Head Office at Anzac House, four courses were held for 98 attendees, representing 14 subbranches. Held across four sessions, representatives took the opportunity to delve into deep discussions to address some of the main governance challenges facing the subbranches, such as a shortage of volunteers and an increase in compliance requirements. The committee members in attendance are now more informed and interested in integrating the changing community standards and expectations into their operations.

Further, John recently facilitated a bi-monthly Corporate Governance training session with the sports Clubs and charities associated with Carina Leagues Club. These local non-for-profit organisations are required to send their representatives to this training periodically to ensure they understand their Corporate Governance responsibilities with protecting the Carina Leagues brand and receiving funding from the Club. Engagement from the group was high, given most attendees did not have experience in Corporate Governance, so they very much appreciated the advice provided by DWS Hospitality Specialists.
