The role is a challenging one that spans a number of accountabilities including bar, gaming, bistro, and surf club administration.  The club aspires to increase its revenues as a means of funding the delivery of surf lifesaving services, and ultimately ensuring the longevity and prosperity of the club.

To be successful in this role:

You will need significant general management experience and a successful track record.  Knowledge of the Queensland clubs industry will be an advantage, along with the following skill set:

  • High levels of financial acumen and be able to drive results to achieve profit and expense targets;
  • Lead and motivate a team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Able to successfully prioritise and manage multiple activities concurrently
  • Outstanding communicator, equally comfortable dealing with members and the Board, as well as the wide range of stakeholders that interact with the Club;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative obligations and adherence to relevant financial standards, particularly as they relate to:
    • Poker machines and gaming
    • Financial performance
    • Taxation
    • Liquor licensing
  • Looking constantly for improvements, with a talent for assisting employees to accept changes, and making regular recommendations to the Board.

An exposure to community organisations and/or an interest in surf lifesaving will be well regarded.

It is expected that applicants will have relevant qualifications and experience, including a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role and possess relevant Industry qualifications such as RSA, RSG and RMLV.  The General Manager will act as the club’s nominee for gaming and liquor.

The right applicant will attract a package in excess of $100,000 p.a.
