The Rise and Rise of Club Helensvale

Share Post:

The great comeback story of the last two years at Club Helensvale is nothing short of amazing! In the financial year ending 2019 the club barely broke even, for the financial year ending 2021 club net profit approached $2 million and this financial year, the club is on target to achieve a profit of $3 million… just wow!

The Club Helensvale success story is largely due in part to the stewardship of legendary Queensland club manager, Wayne Moffatt, who took up the challenge of overseeing the club’s rebirth. Strongly supported by new chairman, Paul Wilson, and his focused board, Wayne engaged a team of the industry’s leading consultants and advisers to assist him on this sensational comeback journey.

CTA Training Specialists and DWS Hospitality Specialists were pleased to play a part in this success story! Working alongside some great people, including Matthew Rafton of Maer Group who supported their marketing efforts, Steve Koman from Jacaranda Advisory Group who worked hard on getting the financials back on track, and Craig Cornish from Project Leaders Australia to design and construct the badly needed renovations to the club, which were recently completed.

Aaron Bray, General Manager of CTA Training Specialists, provided customer service training, pre-COVID training, and incorporated range of training programs including Certificate IV in hospitality management and school-based trainees. Michelle Pitman our HR, safety and compliance guru at DWS Hospitality Specialists took care of their work, health and safety programs and training. Finally, John Dickson from DWS Hospitality Specialists, provided corporate governance training for the new board and conducted a very extensive three-day strategic planning process which has set the club on its success plan for the next five years.

True credit must go to Wayne Moffatt for the club’s recent success and demonstrates that, despite Wayne’s extensive qualifications and experience in the club industry, he understood the benefits of bringing together a quality group of consultants and advisers to help him achieve his vision for the club, taking them to the wonderful position they are in today.

CTA and DWS are absolutely thrilled to be part of Wayne Moffatt’s dream team at Club Helensvale and we can’t wait to see what happens in 2022 and beyond!
