Finance Manager – Colonial Leisure Group – hotel and brewery businesses

The Colonial Leisure Group (CLG) is a successful Port Melbourne-based hospitality and leisure operator with assets across Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and the UK. CLG is seeking a qualified Finance Manager who is prepared to work hands on with the head office team (accounts payable, payroll, POS manager) and senior management; to communicate results to venue managers; and take a collaborative approach to developing solutions to finance issues. This is an ideal opportunity to forge a career in a great organisation with potential to progress to amore senior finance role.
Reporting to the Group CFO, the successful candidate must strike a balance between being a skilled and experienced finance practitioner and being a leader capable of contributing to a positive organisation culture by working with venues and within the corporate structure.
At CLG, the Finance Manager is accountable for driving solutions and positive outcomes. The Finance Manager works within the head office structure with an expectation of building relationships at venue level by being visible and accessible and demonstrating a willingness to understand the day to day challenges at an operational level. . The group is strong and successful and growing.
Key aspects of the role will include:

  • Working with the venue managers and head office team to generate accurate and timely reporting outcomes.
  • Reporting financial results internally in a transparent and concise fashion to both senior management and to venues.
  • Developing the hands on skills required to operate Great Plains accounting package, and be familiar with H&L POS and Time Target payroll software packages.
  • Being across hands on duties such as bank reconciliations and producing monthly management accounts; and reporting outcomes that are succinct, timely and meaningful.

CLG is seeking to appoint a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • Formal qualifications in Accounting, with CPA or CA (or progress towards) highly regarded.
  • A willingness to learn the group’s hospitality businesses and a preparedness to undertake some limited travel to visit the group’s venues.
  • The accounting skills to produce the numbers and the smarts to tell the story behind the numbers to assist stakeholders to make better decisions about the businesses.
  • Leadership, a natural style that people will relate to.
  • Analytical skills, a predisposition for questioning norms and challenging sacred cows.
  • Written and verbal communications skills and the ability to build rapport and influence people.
  • Experience working and communicating with senior management.
  • Diligence, honesty, integrity and a commitment to best practice and success.
